It's PyOhio Week! 💜

Hello PyOhio Community! We're sending out a special announcement for the start of PyOhio week! In just a few short days, on July 25th, we'll be kicking off the event at the Cleveland State University Student Center! So rather than our normal monthly newsletter format, we decided to send you your very own PyOhio 2026 Prep Checklist! Make sure to look it over and let us know if you have any questions!

PyOhio Prep Checklist

✅ Register for PyOhio 2026

PyOhio is always free, but you still need to register! If you register tonight (July 19) you'll even get a nice preprinted badge! We will of course have blank badges at the check-in desk as well.

✅ Review the schedule

We've made a few changes to the schedule of talks and rooms over the last couple of months, so if you've haven't looked at the schedule lately, take a glance and see what piques your interest! And most importantly, don't forget about the Hallway Track and the Open Spaces!

✅ Join the Discord

Our PyOhio Discord is a buzz of activity during the event - this is where we'll first make announcements about any last minute changes, information that attendees might need to know, or helpful hints. There's also channels specifically for the 2026 conference to help you meet other attendees, coordinate where you can get lunch or dinner with other groups, or discuss the talks you've enjoyed!

✅ Volunteer to Help!

PyOhio depends on our volunteers! While the PyOhio Organizers have been hard at work behind the scenes all year making sure we make this the best event we can, there aren't enough of us to handle everything alone! We especially need volunteers to be Session Chairs. A Session Chair hangs out in the rooms with the speakers, making sure they're in the right place, introduces each talk, and keeps track of time for the speaker so they can focus on their talk. There are several other volunteer roles as well, so if you'd like to help us out, sign up on our volunteer list!

✅ Finalize Your Travel Plans

If you're coming in from out of town, make sure you have all your travel booked, and you know where you're going! There's various forms of public transit in the Cleveland area to help you get around, including shuttles and trains from the airport to the downtown area where the event is hosted. Take a look around the venue as well - there's a lot of great little spots to grab lunch with folks you meet at PyOhio! https://maps.app.goo.gl/TNoUpqAgSHsDijFEA

✅ Grab a T-Shirt

Our T-Shirt sales for the PyOhio 2026 design are still ongoing, up through PyOhio, but after the event, they won't be available anymore! If you order a shirt now, you can have it shipped home shortly after PyOhio is done. They make a great souvenir to remember all the fun times you had and all the people you met! Plus, you totally get bragging rights when you come to PyOhio 2027! https://pyohio.org/shirts

✅ Review the Code of Conduct

We know that nobody in OUR amazing community would want to make it any less welcoming for any of our attendees, but it's always a good idea to review the Code of Conduct. All attendees will be expected to abide by it while at PyOhio. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the organizers! https://www.pyohio.org/2026/about/code-of-conduct/

✅ Get Ready for Fun!

Yes, PyOhio is about Python. Yes, many PyOhio attendees use Python at their jobs. And yes, you can learn a lot while you're at PyOhio. But the most amazing part of PyOhio is meeting other members of the community! Maybe you'll run into someone you know from the PSF or an open source project! Maybe you went to PyCon US, and you'll reuinite with someone you met there. Or maybe you'll just happen to go to lunch with some lovely folks you never met before, strike up an interesting conversation, and have a blast! So get ready!

We're Excited!

We can't wait to see you this week! So if you're traveling, please be safe, and we'll see you when you get here!
